Sales Tax Exemptions - Did you know?

  • Horse feed is exempt from the sales tax but baby food is not?
  • Limousine services are exempt from the sales tax but car repair services are taxed?
  • Clothing is taxed but fur storage and tanning salons are not taxed?

Despite the perception of some, the sales tax is riddled with loopholes and exemptions. Additionally, there are a whole host of services that have historically never been taxed. TFT supports an open dialogue about these various exemptions. Where they are justified, such as health care, they should continue. Where they are not justified, such as taxidermy and marina docking, the sale tax should be applied like all other purchases.
